The BlackYARD team of electrical engineers, with a combined 65-plus years’ experience, can find solutions to the most technically challenging engineering projects.

BlackYARD Engineering (formerly Pacific Consulting Group) was established in 2003. At the core of the business is the partnerships that we have with our clients, leading to our philosophy of working on interesting projects with interesting people.

We love creating interesting solutions for our clients and pride ourselves on our agility and ability to adapt to requirements, always providing an exceptional and very personal level of communication.

Our team

Our team is made up of Engineering New Zealand and CPENG members, honours graduates and ex-sparkys, each with at least 10 years’ experience. Which means we can guarantee that you will always have an experienced engineer working on your project.

Greig Blackler

Greig Blackler

Born and raised in Southland, Greig has been in the electrical industry since 1988 and is the managing director of BlackYARD Engineering. He is a professionally qualified electrical engineer with a Bachelor Degree (with honours from the University of Canterbury) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Greig is an affiliated member of Engineering New Zealand and a chartered engineer who, prior to becoming an electrical engineer, was employed at the Tiwai Point Aluminium Smelter in Bluff as an industrial electrician. Greig has also worked for Honeywell Building Services as a BMS design engineer and project manager.

With a work history encompassing a complementary mix of both technical and practical experience, as well as project management and business skills, Greig has the ability to read each project and deliver accordingly.

Greig is an outdoors man and a keen mountain biker, participating in and supporting sporting events and activities under the BlackYARD Racing banner.

Sean Clancey

Sean Clancey

Born and raised in the Waikato, Sean is a NZCE qualified electrical engineer who prior to BlackYARD Engineering, worked as a commercial electrician in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Sean is still an EWRB Registered Electrician holding a current practising license.

Born and raised in the Waikato, Sean is a NZCE qualified electrical engineer who prior to BlackYARD Engineering, worked as a commercial electrician in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Sean is still an EWRB Registered Electrician holding a current practising license. He Is also our AutoCAD and Revit champion and his electrical practising licence enables him to carry out prescribed electrical work, such as opening switchboards, to undertake detailed electrical condition assessments.

Sean’s practical work history is leveraged off on a day-to-day basis as a design engineer. Whether he is on site investigating electrical installations or developing a concept design through to a full set of contract drawings, Sean’s combined skill set is without parallel.

Terry Moes

Terry Moes

Born and raised in Wellington, Terry is a professionally qualified electrical engineer with a Bachelor Degree (with honours from the University of Canterbury) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Born and raised in Wellington, Terry is a professionally qualified electrical engineer with a Bachelor Degree (with honours from the University of Canterbury) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He is an affiliated member of Engineering New Zealand, a chartered engineer, is EWRB registered and holds a current electrical practising license which enables him to carry out prescribed electrical work.

Terry has a thorough understanding of the process contractors must follow when completing prescribed electrical work as well as practical knowledge of how electrical installations are carried out, which enables him to design with installation and maintenance processes in mind.

Terry’s skills include technical knowledge in electrical building services, lighting and power design, Revit MEP, AutoCAD drawing and design, control systems, communications and building efficiency and sustainability.

Jamin Bhikha

Born and raised in Wellington, Jamin is an EWRB registered electrician and still holds a current practising license. Prior to working with BlackYARD Engineering, Jamin was a commercial electrician running small office fit outs to complex heritage projects.

Sumudu Jayalath

Currently on sabbatical.

Sumudu is currently undertaking his long awaited OE (post-Covid) in Canada, exploring and enjoying new “non-industry related” experiences. We hope to see him return to NZ shores and BlackYARD Engineering in the future.
